Gamonal and Nathy Hail South American U-17 Title Triumph

Brazil’s Women’s U-17 National Team secured the South American championship on Saturday night (9) by defeating Argentina 3-2. Forward Sofia Gamonal broke the deadlock at Defensores del Chaco Stadium in Asunción (PAR). Helena and Nicolly also found the net for Brazil. Goalkeeper Nathy was another key performer, delivering consistently strong displays throughout the continental tournament.

“I’m overjoyed to have contributed to the team in such a crucial match. It was a game full of twists; at times we had to adapt to less-than-ideal situations, but we kept pushing until the final whistle. We executed the game plan we needed,” Gamonal stated.

“It’s an indescribable feeling. I’m incredibly proud to represent this great nation once more; words can’t express my gratitude. God placed me here and guided me through every minute, and I’m so thankful. It feels amazing to be Brazilian,” added Nathy.

Notably, both players had previously won the 2025 U-15 Liga Evolución with the Brazilian National Team. In that tournament, Brazil drew 0-0 with Argentina in the final before prevailing 4-1 on penalties.
