The event kicked off on May 4, marking not only the start of the new league season but also the beginning of the points-gathering phase for China’s 3×3 basketball push toward the Los Angeles Olympics. In the final, Shanghai Jiushi faced the Shanghai Hengsha Yumin team, both having dominated the league’s titles over the past four years. For this championship, both teams debuted new lineups. Shanghai Jiushi retained core players Yan Peng, Wen Yade, and Qi Haotong, while adding young player Liu Xiaopeng. Shanghai Hengsha Yumin brought in Li Haonan and foreign player Andru.

From the outset, the final showcased high-intensity offense and defense, with scores fluctuating. With 2 minutes and 12 seconds remaining, Wen Yade’s dunk tied the game at 15-15. Despite facing foul trouble, Shanghai Jiushi stayed resilient. In a crucial moment, Wen Yade scored inside again to put his team ahead 19-17. With 1.8 seconds left, Andru’s layup attempt was ruled a shot-clock violation, sealing a 19-18 nail-biting victory for Shanghai Jiushi.

The new Super 3 League season features a revamped brand image and a tiered competition system. As a top-tier event, the winning Shanghai Jiushi team earns a spot in the FIBA 3×3 Challenger, where they can accumulate Olympic qualification points for China. Off the court, the event engaged fans with various consumption and entertainment activities under a “Sports+” model. The Shenzhen leg launched a “Ticket Economy” partnership with nearby districts and commercial areas, allowing fans to enjoy exclusive discounts. The “Pengcheng New Home·Fan Carnival” turned the venue area into a city hotspot, attracting an estimated 900,000 visits to the Shenzhen Sports Center and surrounding area.

Additionally, the league collaborated with the Shenzhen leg to produce the “Super City Players – Shenzhen Edition” program, featuring player An Jiachan exploring the new sports landmark of Bijia Mountain Sports Park, highlighting the integration of sports, leisure, and smart technology. The next stop of the Super 3 League, the Guiyang Grand Region event, is scheduled for May 15-17.
