Commentator Dmitry Guberniev has shared his thoughts on Minnesota Wild forward Kirill Kaprizov’s performance. Kaprizov scored a goal and added two assists in Game 3 of the second-round Stanley Cup series against the Colorado Avalanche (5-1, series 1-2). The 29-year-old now has 14 points (4 goals, 10 assists) in nine playoff games this NHL postseason, with a plus-minus of +11, placing him alone at the top of the scoring race.
“Just a couple of days ago, I said that Matvey Safonov is the face of Russian sports abroad, because Safonov is playing in the playoffs while Ovechkin is not. Yes, the tournaments and sports are different, but still. Now, Kaprizov hasn’t just closely caught up to Safonov—he has practically started overtaking him,” Guberniev said.
“I am very happy for Kirill. He is showing phenomenal leadership qualities. He is currently the number one import in the NHL. When it comes to Russian hockey players, the answer is clear, but he is now the best among all Canadians, Americans, and Europeans in the playoffs. Keep it up, the main thing is to avoid injuries. He is a great guy, a wonderful person, and I love him very much. So, Kirill, keep burning!”
