Shakhtar Donetsk secured their 16th Ukrainian Premier League title with a commanding 4-0 win over Poltava in Lviv. Izake netted a brace in the 55th and 61st minutes, while Dmitry Kryskov (45+3) and Lassina Traoré (67) also found the net to seal the emphatic victory.
The Miners now have 66 points, opening an insurmountable 11-point gap over second-placed Polissya (55 points) with just three matches remaining in the season. This marks Shakhtar’s third league crown in the last four campaigns, bringing them tantalizingly close to the national record of 17 titles held by Dynamo Kyiv.
For Poltava, the defeat confirmed their relegation from the top flight. They remain rooted to the bottom of the table with only 12 points, ending their hopes of survival in Ukraine’s elite division.
Looking ahead to round 28, Shakhtar will host Obolon on May 13, while Poltava travel to face LNZ Cherkasy on the same day.
