Vinicius Júnior, in his latest act of defiance at Camp Nou

This is a familiar story, but Vinicius Júnior once again found himself at the center of a controversial incident as a Real Madrid player. This time at Spotify Camp Nou, the Brazilian forward responded to the home crowd’s usual taunts after they chanted about his Ballon d’Or loss in 2024.
The tension between Barcelona fans and Vinicius Júnior dates back years. Ever since the Brazilian first wore the white shirt against the Blaugrana, episodes of provocation have been numerous, many centered on his runner-up finish in the 2024 Ballon d’Or voting—an award ultimately won by Rodri of Manchester City.
This time, amid a festive atmosphere celebrating an imminent La Liga title, the home crowd repeatedly sang the now-iconic “Balón de Playa” (Beach Ball) chant. Far from ignoring the taunts when his team trailed 2-0 at Spotify Camp Nou, Vinicius responded by signaling the number “15” with his hands, referencing the 15 Champions League titles Real Madrid has won in its history.
His reply was no coincidence, as this is not the first time the Brazilian has brandished Madrid’s trophy haul to counter rival jeers. On this occasion, Vinicius will have to watch from the pitch as Barcelona secures their 29th La Liga title—likely against Real Madrid at Camp Nou.
